The walking dead is not just a show, it is a real phenomenon happening right before our eyes.
The Word makes it clear:
'As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. '
The day started out gloomy after raining all night. We prayed for miracles, signs and wonders. "Oh, GOD! Please don’t let her die while we are out here sharing Your Good News."
I did not say this aloud but my mind raced with this thought as we embraced the lifeless body of our beloved church mother. She had no heartbeat and her breath had ceased. We will call her Mrs H.
We laid her down flat to do CPR. We had already dialed 9-1-1 and they dispatched an ambulance to assist. Since she had no breath, our outreach team gathered around to pray. Several witnesses saw her lack of movement as she rested in my lap.
While the ambulance was on their way we began to pray for her and hold her close before someone had the wisdom to share that she should be laid flat to help her breathe.
I wanted to pray but could only repeat “Resurrection Power,” when a pastor ran from across the street and began to rebuke the power of death and command that her soul return to her body in the name of Jesus! He prayed with such fervor and confidence that I began to look up to see if her breath had returned.
What seemed like several minutes passed and at least six people had gathered around her when all of a sudden she inhaled a large breath.
She said, “I have fainted, I have fainted.” But Mrs. H had not fainted, she had literally ceased to live. There was no pulse, no breath or movement at all for several minutes. There was no mistake that we witnessed a miracle. We saw the power of GOD!
'But concerning the dead, that they rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. You are therefore greatly mistaken.”'
Some people say that resurrection is not real, that there is no way for the dead to come back to life. But the Word tells us “'For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. 'Ecclesiastes 9:5 ESV
Many appear to be alive but are actually dead. This is not a judgment but the truth. While truth can be defined in several ways, The Word teaches us that Jesus Christ is the truth. He is alive, was alive, and will remain alive. A paradox, it seems but just truth.
When our father, Adam chose sin in the Garden of Eden, all of mankind fell with him. It is the same concept as the last name of a person. While they are an individual, they are also part of a family. Even if they don’t have the same last name, their DNA can shed light on who they are and even give detailed information about traits or diseases that run in the family. They may not know this information any other way but it is encoded within them. Science even proves this.
'For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. '
In the same way that all sinned with Adam, all have access to grace, mercy and peace through The LORD Jesus Christ. It may not make sense to our carnal minds but it can be understood sort of like a power of attorney. You can have the same rights and privileges of a person just based on their name.
For those who can see that the world is growing darker by the moment, we can also see that the only way out is through The LORD Jesus Christ. It is not the popular route or even an easy one, but we can be assured that He is truly The Way. He will direct our paths as we place our trust in Him. He has already paid the cost to free us from the bondage of sin and death but we must be willing to take up our cross and follow Him. Our confidence in His leadership grows as we follow Him. To follow Him we need to get into His Word and be empowered by His Holy Spirit.
It truly does not matter how you come to Him. Different denominations believe different things but the Bible is clear that we can come as we are. His power is greater than any sin or lifestyle you may think disqualifies you. The entire point of His crucifixion was to demonstrate his love for all of mankind and give every single person an opportunity to be back in right standing with our Creator and Heavenly Father.
'For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.'
That decision can be made right now as you read this post. Do not hesitate because no man knows the day or hour when they will have to stand before Him and give an account of their lives. He has already paid the price and made life available by grace.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2: 8-9 ESV
The LORD Jesus Christ will do the rest if you cooperate with His Holy Spirit which leads us and guides us into all truth, and shows us things to come.
